heda

p1010319

This is my friend Rosemary, and a very, very gorgeous painting from a show at Heda.

I didn’t have as good a camera as I do now, so looking at this picture sort of makes me cringe at how blurry it is, but it’s the best picture I have of how beautiful downtown Kaifeng was at night.

pond

This pond is only a few meters from my apartment.

heda campus

Heda campus from the fifth floor of the Foreign Language building I showed a picture of earlier.

soldiers

Again, sorry for the general crappiness of the picture, but this was taken with my cell phone.

Every fall the freshman classes at all the universities in China have to have military training for two weeks. I’m glad they don’t do this to us in the States.

the building i teach in

I teach two classes on the fifth floor of this building.

the head

This is if I remember correctly some famous communist guy, though who I don’t remember. This statue is only a few feet from my apartment.

heda doorway autumn

I took a whole lot of pictures of the Heda campus during autumn. I loved it, because every corner I took the place looked completely different. I need to go back and retool this pic later, because it came out too purple.

Plant Poetry

“My greenness owes to your affection”

Another Heda poetry sign.

bicycle poetry

“The moon wanes when round enough
The water overflows when full enough”

There are a lot of signs like that around campus at Henan Daxue. This one is right in front of where there are usually several bikes parked.
