wild animals

gecko

So one day I was putting on a jacket, and I put my hands in the pockets. In my right pocket, I felt something squishy. It was this guy.

I had last seen him hanging out on the wall near my coat rack, I guess he got cold or something. I eventually got him off my pant leg (which he had clung to for like 1o minutes) and put him outside.

 tiny frozen squid

Tiny frozen squid. Because it’s me, and thusly squid had to happen eventually.

me and an emu

More me. More emu. Horrible angle to take a picture of me at, though.

Lady and the Emu

The bird park in Zhengzhou. Another one of the kind of things that would never happen in the States.

tigers

Kaifeng has a zoo. It’s not as sketchy as you would think it would be.

wall dragon

So the word for gecko in Chinese translates as “wall dragon”. This guy above lives on my porch.

mountain lions

At least, I think those are mountain lions.

This is a taste of why the Beijing Zoo is actually really depressing. The big cats hardly have any room to move around. It’s like a prison.

monkey

A monkey. A pissed off monkey. Sitting on top of a ram. That’s pulling a cart. With a small child in it. Who thought this was a good idea?

Oh, and technically this is another photo taken by my mom.

goldfishies

Some fish from the Beijing aquarium, the largest indoor aquarium in the world. Though, to be honest, there were no cephalopods (that I saw). And no jelly fish. So, it may be the largest, but without big tenticalled things, it can’t possibly be the greatest.

That one fish is blowing kisses at me.
