So given that AIM and Livejournal are both blocked at the moment, it is time for a new segment called “What is Jen pissed at today”. Because if I don’t rant online somewhere I might say something unfortunate to someone in Real Life.

Today I am pissed because:

We were just told a few days ago that final exams are next week (and not a month from now like we thought) and yeah, we better go ahead and write those exams now.

I’m not being allowed to fail the students who entered my classes right before the end of each semester and thus missed months of attendance and assignments.

The students I caught copying off other people on the last exam don’t have the listening comprehension ability to understand when I asked them to write an essay on why what they did was bad and I had to have another student translate.

One of those same students did a presentation in class today that was horrid. All the students were supposed to find a word in English that their classmates probably didn’t know to teach the class. So far only half the students have done it correctly. The rest have: done words everyone already knows but give stupid mneumonics for them (like family - Father And Mother I Love You), given chinese words, not do a word but translate a chinese proverb into english, or do things that aren’t actually english words and i have no idea what language they actually were. So today one student said that “Naa” is a new word in English originally from Japanese that means “yes”. So yes, she managed to butcher two languages today!

This woman at the international office went into my apartment sometime when I wasn’t home and opened the screens but then closed the glass part of the windows of all my windows, but then didn’t close them all completely so that mosquitoes could get in, but I didn’t notice for a long time because the curtains were closed until she told me.

It seems I can’t even wash a tomato with tap water and eat it raw without getting horribly sick to my stomach.

I gave a quiz today on letters and memos. Last week I said specifically “study the section on memos”. On the quiz there was a question, “what are memos?” Half the class got it wrong.

I have a pimple on the INSIDE of my nose.

I’m getting the impression that at least half of the presentations from my first years on the US have been plagiarized but I just haven’t caught them all. (I wish I was exaggerating on that figure.)

I currently have a massive moth trapped in my bathroom.

And I have to give a makeup class tomorrow morning at 8.
